Some of Grandma's relatives (unbeknownst to Grandma) grew up in very severe abuse; in situations where it was not safe to tell or even hint about what was being done to their bodies and souls. One of the reasons that Grandma's House was such a refuge was because "I knew no one was going to hit me or do anything else to me, with Grandma around."

It's true. This place is for women only and no men allowed because a lot of women come here as part of a healing journey. To get to experience the childhood they could have had, if only their parents had loved them. And some parents truly do not love their children, sadly.

Grandma unapologetically removed any biological or married relation family member that was abusive. Currently the family wall consists almost entirely of women. There is great strength in that.  And we are very proud of our created matriarchy.
