Grandma’s Nostalgia House No-No’s

Through trial and error, and the honest reviews of guests, we have learned that there are a few things that can ruin the desired experience of time travel.
In a nutshell, cell phones and people you know. So no technology no cell phones no smart watches no Internet.
No others
This is a solo trip. Do not bring your significant other or your best friend from childhood or your children. This journey into the past is interrupted every single time you look at someone that knows you in present day reality.

Exceptions to this rule are only made after individuals have stayed here by themselves or special events like Party or Sleepover Weekend.

After these two small changes were made, guests had a much more realistic experience. It was much easier to believe that they were children again without the technology of today, and without the people that they know in present day.

Guests who have visited with their childhood best friend/family members and then visited without them got a much better experience without family/friends. All said they found the experience even more believable even though it seems counterintuitive. Having your best friend from childhood here actually reminds you more that this isn’t real. Seeing the adult version of your childhood friend pulls you out of the experience every time you look at them. It’s actually easier to pretend you are back in time without them.

This was tested several times and found to be true. So it is no friends/family to ensure that your experience is the best it can possibly be.

No Boys/Men
Because we do have a very high number of women who utilize grandmas house as part of their healing journey often from male violence, grandma’s house is currently only open to those who were assigned female at birth/biological women.

We did try allowing men and transwomen in- multiple times. Long story short- they spoiled it for their respective communities, and that's putting it politely. After multiple chances to these communities with the same  behavior each time,Grandma said no more, for the safety of all. So if you find you can't respect a safety boundary of an elderly woman, Grandma's House is not the place for you.

We do agree that men and transwomen may be uniquely in need of such a space as Grandmas House. We encourage others to do so.

Safety Integrity and Intellectual Property

For reasons of safety and to help prevent others from trying to claim the unique awesomeness that is only available here as their own, we do not allow anyone to take photos except in designated areas.

Grandma’s Nostalgia House is proud to be   located in Rockford Illinois
